Important PlanetDomain Announcement - DNS Change Affecting Resellers
PlanetDomain recently migrated our entire infrastructure to a new Data Centre in Sydney, requiring an update of DNS records for reseller websites.
If you have not already done so, it is very important that you update your DNS records to make use of PlanetDomain's new IP Address.
We currently have a solution in place at the old data centre to divert traffic to the new IP Address, however this will be removed as of November 26th 2007.
Resellers who were previously directing their DNS information to the old IP address of 210.50.5.8 must change to the new DNS information, or risk your reseller website going offline.
The changes you need to put in place
You will need to change the hostname of your reseller site (example: domains.reseller.com) to point as a CNAME to the host name www.planetdomain.com.
If you don't have access to change your DNS information, you need to contact the DNS Hostmaster where your domain is delegated to
You can find out where your domain is delegated using a whois lookup on our website
Note: if you do not make these changes by the deadline of November 26th, you risk your reseller site going offline, which will affect your existing customers, as well as any new potential customers, which effectively will result in a loss of business.
What if I NEED an A record?
If it is absolutely necessary that you use an A Record, in cases where you promote your domain via the url http://yourresellername.com for example, then you will need to update the A record to point at the IP Address: 202.131.95.29
Please note: we would like to avoid the use of A records if possible, as it will present similar issues for any future data centre migrations, however we don't anticipate any changes in the near future.
