PlanetDomain .ASIA Domain Information Page for Resellers

PlanetDomain is now accredited by ICANN as an official .ASIA Registrar. This is a brand new and unique top level domain for the Asia-Pacific region, allowing companies and individuals to make their footprint in the region with their own .ASIA web presence.

As a PlanetDomain reseller, you will be able to reseller .ASIA domains to your customers. We will begin accepting registrations for .ASIA on Monday February 18th 2008.

The wholesale price of .ASIA domains for resellers is $17.50 USD Per year (plus USD 50c ICANN Fee, not including Australian Good & Services Tax), which is sold in a minimum of 2 year blocks up to 10 years.

Eligibility Criteria

Note that as part of the eligibility criteria, at least one of the domain contacts must be part of the 'ASIA community'" which includes Australia and New Zealand. A full list of eligible regions can be found here.

Registrants must confirm their eligibility by supplying either a Company or Business number (such as an ACN or ABN) for companies, or a passport, drivers license number or other form of valid identification number as specified by the .ASIA registry

How Do I can I sell .ASIA domains via my reseller website?

Adding .ASIA to your reseller website is the same as enabling any other domain extension to your reseller account or site.

You simply need to login to your reseller administration panel and go into the 'Edit Preferences Section'. Once you've enabled it, you can set your wholesale price via 'Set Domain Pricing'.

Just like all other products and services sold via the Private Label reseller website, PlanetDomain handles the entire customer transaction from the domain order process, billing, sending customer notifications including domain renewal and expiry notices. PlanetDomain's private label system does all the hard work for you.

.ASIA Landrush Pre-registration and Auction process

The .ASIA Landrush is the registration period beginning on February 20th 2008 on 12:00 Noon UTC and ending on March 12th 2008 on 24:00 Midnight UTC.

During this time, requests to register a domain will be submitted to the registry. If any other interested party also applies for the domain during the landrush period, it will go to Auction where the customer applying for the domain can place bids on the domain.

Just like any other Auction, the highest bidder wins and secures the domain. If there is only one request for the domain during the landrush, it will be granted to the customer at the normal registration price after March 12th. If an applicant is outbid and they do not successfully register the domain, their registration is fully refunded, and they will not be charged for the auction.

Like all other domains that our resellers offer to their customers, you can set your retail price to whatever you like.

PlanetDomain will be accepting pre-registrations for .ASIA domains from Monday 19th February 2008, and will queue registrations to be submitted on day one of the landrush (20th Feb 2008 after 12:00 Noon UTC).

The Auction Process

The auction process will be run by an external auction-house selected by the .ASIA registry, and will be held at an external website: http://planetdomain.asia.pool.com/ where customers can check the status of their domain application. Other participating .ASIA registrars will also have access to the auction process, and their customers will also be entering bids for domains they have applied for as well.

The auction process facilitiated by Pool will be executed at the end of the landrush during the quiet period. Participants in the landrush will be contacted by Pool via email with details of how to participate.

Special Promotion: 20% discount on Landrush Day One Applications

Any domain submitted within the first 24 hours of the landrush (and before with our pre-registration system), before 12:00 noon UTC on 21st February 2008 is eligible for a 20% discount (meaning you the reseller can acquire the domain at USD $14.00 per year ex-GST plus USD50c ICANN Fee)). Applications submitted after the first day of the landrush will be charged at the normal rate.

Note this discount does NOT apply to any auction fees or charges. 12:00 Noon in UTC = 23:00 or 11:00PM in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT/GMT+11)

Reseller Commissions on .ASIA domains registered during landrush

As PlanetDomain is accepting payments for .ASIA domains in advance in February/March, and then refunding any unsuccessful domain application after March 12th , PlanetDomain will be withholding reseller commissions related to the sale of .ASIA domains until the following month (April) pending the outcome of successful .ASIA domain registrations.

Only the registration fee is applied to resellers as commission. Proceeds from the .ASIA landrush auction are not available to resellers.

.ASIA GoLive

After the initial landrush phase, the registry will stop accepting new registrations for a period of two weeks, and will re-open on the "GoLive" date at 12:00 Noon UTC on March 26th. All new domain registrations from this point-forward will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. The normal registration fees (USD $17.50 wholesale to resellers) will still apply.
