PlanetDomain News July 2007.
We have some exciting news and announcements this month including the introduction of some new domain extensions, enhancements and changes to the admin panel, and a new and exciting surprise.
New Domain Extensions available
The following TLDs have been added:
- Support for All New Zealand extensions. Introducing org.nz, geek.nz, maori.nz, school.nz, gen.nz and ac.nz
- CentralNIC Second-Level Domains (2LDs): We've added support for all CentralNIC domains to include .LA, QC.COM, BR.COM, and many more. See http://www.planetdomain.com/domains/list for a full list of supported TLDs.
Updates to Private Label Website:
Changes to default reseller pricing (affects new resellers only).
We've made some changes to the default retail price which is set when a new reseller is inducted. Previously, these values weren't set, and if a reseller did not add values, attempts at registration would generate an error. It is important that resellers set their pricing as soon as their account is deployed to ensure they receive their desired amount of commission for the sale of products & services via their Private-Label websites. This does not affect pricing that has been set by existing resellers.
Domain search dialog customisation
- You can now customise the domain search box in the following ways:
- List only the TLDs you select, and in the order you choose
- You can select the number of TLDs to display in a single row
- Defaulting the TLD checkboxes to be all checked, none checked or use the default system checking mechanism
Admin panel interface enhancement
We've made some cosmetic changes to the Admin Panel, and you can change the Theme by going into "Edit my details" and selecting the theme of your choosing - more themes coming soon. We've also cleaned up and grouped the menu items into ordered categories to make navigation a little easier
Reseller preference enhancement
- Preferences are now categorised into related categories
- Preferences have dependencies so that if a preference relies on an existing preference to be set
We've also performed a lot of bug fixes in the past few weeks, and some of the most noticeable fixes were related to DNS zones for new domain registrations, as well as problems with URL & Email forwarding
Hosting Servers
We are currently deploying some new Cpanel Hosting servers, to be deployed for the first time in Australia. We will be keeping the existing servers housed in the USA, but we'll gradually migrate the majority of customers to the machines in Australia. This will provide improvements in service levels to customers in Australia. We will of course keep some of the existing infrastructure in the USA to ensure high service levels are maintained for customers outside Australia, and we will allow your customers to pick and choose where their website is hosted.
SMS Renewal notices
We are in the final testing stages of our new SMS Renewal notice platform. This will initially be launched on the planetdomain.com retail site, and then be made available to resellers (with availability to most, if not all countries at the same cost). We feel that this very unique service will prove to be very popular amongst customers who value their domain and are concerned about losing it due to missed renewal notices. We will keep resellers updated with the progress of this product.
