ICANN Whois Data Reminder Policy Notifications

As an ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar, PlanetDomain is obliged to notify clients annually of the need to check and update their contact information to ensure the information retained in, and presented by; the whois database is correct and up to date.

The email is sent to all PlanetDomain reseller's customers.

Who is ICANN?

ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, they are responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers. PlanetDomain is an ICANN Accredited domain registrar, and we are required to act in accordance with ICANN's Policy guidelines.

What Domain Types are affected?

All Domain types that are regulated by ICANN and supported by PlanetDomain including: .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ, .CN

What does the customer have to do?

The customer needs to read the email, and follow the instructions to ensure that their information is correct and up to date.

What do I, as a reseller have to do?

Private Label resellers are not required to do anything. We send the email out to all of your customers. If your customers contact you querying the email, please explain that we are required to send the email, and they need to follow the instructions to ensure their details are correct.

API resellers will be notified in a separate email with information specific to them and their customers.

What if my customer has other types of domains?

Your customer will only be contacted if they have a domain type which is regulated by ICANN. If your customer has a .CA domain for example, but no other domain type, they won't be contacted. However if your customer has a .CA domain and a .COM domain, then they will still be contacted, as the .COM domain namespace is regulated by ICANN. The email is not relevant to the .CA domain.
